The Molnar Ani Gallery started its activity in the spring of 2007, located in the city centre of Budapest, in Bródy Sándor street that stretches between the National Museum, Astoria and the university quarter. In a uniquely intimate but typical rent house of Pest has opened its first official exhibition in 2008, since then it can be visited in the regular opening hours.
The founder, Annamária Molnár has organized several non-profit exhibitons while having been active as a curator for years, besides her ten-years experience in the field of economy. Due to this, situated specifically, the gallery fulfills an active contact making role between the two scenes and strives to transit most effectively the values of contemporary art for a wider audience, endeavoring to suit high professional standards. The Molnár Ani Gallery represents quality, regardless of the artists' generation or medium, moreover it prefers the progressive, experimental use of new materials. Open towards the new and with a sense for the Hungarian traits within the European context, the gallery introduces and manages talented young artists, while aiming to turn towards the fresh, ever renewing character of contemporary art. At the same, time it feels privileged to cooperate with artists already recognized on the contemporary market of fine arts. Focusing equally on painting and sculpture/installations the gallery wants to make contemporary art more popular by taking it to a wider audience and organizing exhibitions not only at its own spaces, but also in cooperation with other establishments. It has been arranging a contemporary sculpture and installation exhibition series in the MOM Park since October 2007 which enables the encounter with contemporary art even for those, who would not obviously visit galleries. It is an aim from the beginnings to introduce the gallery's artists successfully at an international level. Due to this, eight of them are now on show in Berlin in the Collegium Hungaricum. In 2008 the Molnár Ani Gallery participated successfully on the Budapest Art fair and wishes to broaden the horizons at international art fairs, too. |
